Guy Sebastian Axed Teen After He Forgot Lyrics

AUSTRALIA'S SWEETHEART
He captured Australia's hearts with his emotional story of returning from war in Iraq and a rendition of John Lennon's Imagine. In the end, though, Emmanuel Kelly, a 17-year-old from Melbourne, just couldn't hack it in X Factor boot camp. Judge Guy Sebastian told the contestant, "Yesterday you were great, today the challenge was not met," after Kelly fudged the lyrics to a song several times during a performance. Singer Wynter Gordon, formerly of the Pussycat Dolls, helped Sebastian pick his top six singers.
Fans stormed Twitter spouting off their outrage that Kelly, who is garnering fame beyond Australia, was axed. One, more positive message came from Yoko Ono, who put up Kelly's Imagine performance on her web site and told the young singer her late husband would have been proud of him. There's hope for Kelly despite his elimination. Perth's Luke O'Dell, eliminated early in the competition, had the original song he performed in his audition picked up as the promo for the new season of Beauty and the Geek.
CLOWNING AROUND
Some viewers also griped that the twins behind the duo Upfront, who are winning haters by focusing on clowning around instead of performing, made it into the top six of the Under 25 Girls. The sisters, Melanie and Amy Djuric, have made some measure of an impression with their heavy makeup and school girl outfits Britney Spears would have coveted back in the late 1990s.
With boot camp over, the X Factor Australia contest will now really get underway as the Top 24 battle it out for the prize.
