Adam Versus Karl
Adam Hills is a little tired of not coming away with any Gold Logie success. This year is his fifth consecutive nomination for the much coveted statue, one he has not yet laid his hands on. He recently sat down with the Herald Sun, and cheekily suggested he has found a solution in case he is once again snubbed.
Karl Stefanovic (pictured with Lisa Wilkinson) might be facing a Kanye West style invasion if he again enjoys Gold Logie success.
"Imma let you finish, Karl, but Asher Keddie gave the best performance of all time!" Hills said.
He said he will also be taking a good luck charm from his daughter.
Assuming Adam does take the stage for a bout of impromptu show stealing, he would be walking in the footsteps of many before him.
Kanye West’s now much discussed stage theft occurred during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift had just been awarded best female video and Kanye, obviously less than impressed with the decision, hopped on stage, borrowed the microphone and then proceeded to declare Beyonce’s video "one of the best videos of all time." Kanye later apologised.
More recently, U.S. singer MIA got into a spot of bother during the Super Bowl half-time show. Playing a supporting role to Madonna, MIA managed to throw a middle finger in the air during the performance. Controversy ensued. Madonna later called it “such a teenager, irrelevant thing to do.”
Joining MIA on stage that night was Nicki Minaj. A few days later, she was herself embroiled in some ill-will. She did not so much steal the stage (though she did that later too) on the red-carpet at the 2012 Grammy Awards, but she arrived dressed in an over-flowing Red Riding Hood garb accompanied by a person robed as the Catholic Pope. She then proceeded to put on an “exorcism” performance during the show. Again, controversy ensued.
The Logies is not known for such spectacles. However, surprises do happen!
