"We Love The Country And Love The Name"
Chris Hemsworth has been able to call himself many things. Actor, Home and Away star, brother, son, Thor, and now – perhaps his most cherished title – father.
The 28-year-old actor recently confirmed the news with USA Today that he and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, 35, had a baby girl.
Chris, currently making waves in Hollywood with his roles in The Avengers and Snow White and the Hunstman, explained the personal reasoning behind the child’s name: India.
"We love the country and love the name," he said.
Of late, he has been running the gamut of press tours for Snow White and suggested the movie’s tough female protagonist, played by Kristen Stewart, is the perfect example for his daughter.
"Coming from a family of three boys, my mother was very much a feminist. When we would call each other 'girls,' she would say, 'What is wrong with a girl?'
"Girls can be strong and you have to respect that. And we should encourage more strong female leads in films."
There has been a bit of a baby boom in Hollywood of late.
Jessica Simpson gave birth to her baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson, at the beginning of this month.
Meanwhile another Jessica- Packed to the Rafter’s Jessica Marais – can also call herself a mother after the birth of baby girl Scout Edie Stewart around five days ago.
Jessica’s fiancé and fellow Rafters actor, James Stewart, revealed plans to be a stay at home father.
"I come from a place where it’s not weird for fathers to stay at home. And I’ve got plenty of mates who are doing that, where the women are going to work," he told Today Tonight.
Meanwhile, action star Bruce Willis had his fourth child last month: Mabel Ray.
