Well, if you wondering who was going to blab first about the breakup of the marriage between Katy Perry and Russell Brand the answer is - Russell Brand! The comedian decided to open up to shock-jock Howard Stern about why his short-lived marriage to the singer failed and revealed he’s already moved on.

Look, we can’t say we were shocked when the pair filed for divorce in December 2011. After all, he admits to being a former sex addict and Perry's one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.

However, we had secretly hoped they would make it.

“I was really, really in love with her but then it was sort of difficult to see each other,” Brand admits. “She’s young and pursuing her career. And she should be. She’s successful and dedicated.”

Being mindful of his exes feelings, Brand added, “I don’t want anything to hurt her. She’s younger than me. She’s a young woman and she’s beautiful and she’s sensitive. And I care about her very deeply so I don’t like to be too glib about it. You know what it’s like, Howard. You say something as a joke and they (the media) may write it as if it wasn’t a joke and she’ll read it and she’ll be sad. I just don’t want that. … I got married because I fell in love and I got divorced because it wasn’t working.”

Brand also says he’s moved on, admitting that he’s reverted back to his wild old ways.

"If you’ve been on a diet of rice for a while and suddenly Willy Wonka asked you to take over the factory, you’d be kicking over barrels of candy and swimming in a chocolate river," he explains, alluding to the fact that he’s dating actress Jordana Brewster's younger sister. “Some things in the newspaper aren’t true… that’s true, actually.”

Didn’t he say he wanted to spare her feelings?
