A Few Of Our Favourite Mummy Blogs

The terms we use to describe them are varied – Mum blogger, mummy blogger, the Mum blogs, mums who blog. If you’re a mum and you have a blog, you are lumped into this broad category (no pun intended). We rounded up 10 of our favourite Australian bloggers who also happen to be mums.

Blog

The Mommyhood Memos

Adriel is the writer at this amazing blog, and once you’ve read a few of her posts, you just want to invite her over for a cuppa. She’s warm, honest, funny and endearing -- her posts will either make you sigh or giggle. Plus, she’s involved in an amazing volunteer effort right now supporting mothers giving birth in developing countries in honour of Mother’s Day.

Dear Baby G

Sarah is wife to a hippy husband and between them they are raising six kids. Yes, six. She is also a registered nurse and midwife and shares a lot about her home water-birth experience, tales of raising six kids and anything else that comes to her mind to share.

Diary of a SAHM

Jess is the sassy mother of four who blogs (and vlogs!) at Diary of a SAHM. The home page for her blog says it all -- hopeful, authentic and a little bit of crazy! It’s not hard to find something on this blog that makes you giggle.

Muddled Up Mumma

Jodie shares the highs and lows of mothering an almost 2-year-old son. She is open and honest about her sometimes ambivalent feelings towards motherhood and returning to the working world. What’s not to love about a new friend who’s honest and fun?

Life Love and Hiccups

We knew Sonia had to be on our list when the first post we read was entitled, Oh Crap, I Accidentally Bought my Son a Hash Pipe! She has three young sons, likes shopping and vodka (not necessarily in that order), and loves to change her hair colour. The more time you spend cruising around her blog, the more you wish she was your fun neighbour.

Three Li'l Princesses

Kellie, a former journalist, is the first princess in the trio, along with her two young daughters. She is author of the E-book Only Hearts Should be Worn on Sleeves: The Snotty Truth about Motherhood. Her book is based on a popular column she wrote both while pregnant with her first princess, and then during her daughter's first year of life.

Louisa Claire

With a tagline that touts her blog as “mostly truthful tales of a suburban housewife,” Louisa’s blog is a mixture of helpful advice, parenting tales and all sorts of other good stuff. Start snooping around her blog and you may wind up losing a few hours of your life -- in a good way.

Planning with Kids

Can you really use the words planning and kids in the same sentence? Nicole Avery says you can, and her blog is full of her tips and tricks to organising the chaos of family life. She is a mother of five and author of the book entitled (you guessed it) Planning with Kids. Every aspect of planning your life with kids is covered on her blog -- bedtime routines, meal planning, play and morning tasks to name just a few. You will likely come away with at least a few new ideas to try.

Squiggle Mum

Catherine’s blog has such a comforting feel to it and we love the name! She is a writer, teacher, outdoor play advocate and lover of books. There is so much information on Catherine’s blog you may spend a whole nap time checking out her site.

The Little Mumma

Angie is the feisty mum who writes this blog. She admits to using colourful language and isn’t sorry for it. She has two young boys and a beautiful baby girl who was born in April. She shares her pregnancy and breastfeeding pictures and anything else she thinks someone might enjoy reading.

We certainly had a hard time narrowing down the selection to only ten. So please share with us, which mummy bloggers do you love?

What a great list of talented bloggers! Know what I love about the mum blogger community? The SUPPORT and the love. I have experienced nothing but support since They Call Me Mummy was 'born' and continue to be surprised every time someone links to my blog or sends new followers my way. I'd be so thrilled to make it on to a list like this. Maybe 2013? *subtle nudge and wink* ....okay, not so subtle. ;)
